Two Ghosts (Buried Canon)

by MA/SA

about

I’d like to offer this song as a tribute to a dear friend who has recently passed. Leah Ottman was kind enough to grace us with her violin when the song was written almost three years ago, and I'm so grateful for it. There have been some hiccups getting it released, but now it just needs to be heard. A song about the loss of a relationship and the massive hole left in one’s life upon the aftermath, Leah recorded her parts on the condition that if I ever played the Tonight Show, she’d be my violinist. If I do ever make it back on that show, I still intend on bringing her with me one way or another.

lyrics

I rest my case like a buried canon.
And the damage is done, there’s no turning back.
This road I’ve known seems it’s run out of pavement.
When I look back dear / how could I ever do you harm.

And you say this is my decision
But I only want to make things right
My heart speaks I’m just trying to listen
And if only it were black or white.
If I saw this coming,
Why can’t I let
You from my arms.

Two ghosts still roam the house of our memory
How they laugh and play as if out of time’s reach.
I see you there in the light of the window.
Now I’m just passing thru, as we carry on our days.

And I know this was my decision
But I only want to make things right
My heart speaks, I’m just trying to listen
And if only it were black or white.
If I saw this coming,
Why can’t I let
You from my arms.
