“Try” is about seeing a clearer picture of who we are, who we’ve been, and who we are trying to become. With the space allowed within the shutdown, I, like many others turned inward. Started focusing on mental health amidst the influx of daily stressors and triggers. I began taking shadow work very seriously, as I’ve struggled a lot with my own patterns of self sabotage and needed to understand where this was all coming from.

This song is about transformation and continually striving to become a better person. Releasing this on my birthday and at the turn of the new year seemed appropriate. It’s a snapshot of my own journey as an artist and human, a summation of influences that has brought to where I am now. Thank you for listening and for you ongoing support.

Love, can you hear me now?
Think I’ve bottomed out
And it’s been a while.

I’m still trying to understand
What has changed in me,
When I look at you,
I see a better man
in your eyes.
After all this…
We’re still picking up the pieces.

The missteps ’neath my shoes,
The things we try and lose,

Yes I’ve been wrong before,
But what that got to do with…

How I’m trying to live now,
How I’m trying to live now?
With how I’m trying to live now,
How I’m trying to live now?

Well I’ve been looking for the silver lining
Scanning vanilla skies
A meeting day in the horizon and the nightmare has resigned
And if I didn’t have you
I would have lost my mind
You pulled me out of this wreck
You helped me to define…

All the things that came between us before,
they don't fit no more,
they don't fit no more.
